A.D. 1123 x 1135. Diploma of King Henry I to the monks of St Andrew's Church, Rochester, confirming the lands and possessions that they had in the time of his father, King William, and his brother, King William, including jurisdictional rights over all men within boroughs and without; the fourth penny from the toll of land and water in Rochester and from the ferry when the bridge is broken; the toll from the two-day fair held on the feast of St Paulinus (10 October); warrens of the demesne manors of the bishop and monks of Rochester will be under the king's protection; Boxley Church (Kent) should be in free alms; the churches (all in Kent) at Aylesford, Sutton at Hone, Cicslehurst, Dartford and Woolwich shall have the churches appurtenant to them and tithes from their vills; tithes from the royal mills in Dartford; royal tithes from Strood (Kent), and Chalk (Kent); and tithes from whales caught within the bishopric of Rochester.
