Stokes, English Vernacular Script, ca 990–ca 1035, Vol. 2 (PhD Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2006)

This word was written by the main scribe in the main text and without any change in script except for the use of Insular letter-forms. The hand is somewhat narrow and has a very slight forward lean. The pen was held relatively flat and shows some shading. Ascenders are longer than minims and show small wedges. Descenders are about as long as minims and are straight. Small wedges are found on the descenders of r and wynn. The shoulders of h and r are not especially rounded or angular, and the minims show small feet. Straight-limbed dotted y was used, with the right branch hooked left.
