Stokes, English Vernacular Script, ca 990–ca 1035, Vol. 2 (PhD Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2006)

The word on 138v was written with a fine pen; ascenders are long, more than twice the length of minims, but descenders are shorter. Minims have curving approach-strokes and no feet. The a-component of æ has a high Caroline head, the tongue is at cue-height, and the hook is also high but lower than the head. Horned e was used, with a long tongue which rises slightly and a low hook. The descender of þ is very short, l is very slightly underslung, and the shoulder of n is slightly rounded.
