Stokes, English Vernacular Script, ca 990–ca 1035, Vol. 2 (PhD Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2006)

This gloss was written in a fairly neat hand with a fairly thick pen and some shading. Ascenders are about 1.5 times the length of minims, are fairly straight, and show small wedges. Minims are straight and show small wedges or barbs and no feet. The top of a is straight and close to flat, although the left-hand side of the letter is shorter than the right; both the left and right sides are straight and upright. The back of d is fairly long and angled at about 70° but slightly concave down; the bowl is slightly open at the top. The shoulder of h branches from close to the baseline and is somewhat angular, and that of n is very angular.
